"Inconvenient Memories" Wins a Gold Award

The Wishing Shelf Book Awards announced its list of 2019 winners. Inconvenient Memories won the gold award in Category 6: Books for Adults (non-fiction)

The Wishing Shelf Book Awards was founded by Edward Trayer. He writes children’s books under the pen name Billy Bob Buttons. He wanted to offer independently published authors a very different award, an award that authors could feel involved and know that their works would be judged thoroughly. According to Trayer, “The problem with other awards is, if you win, you win. Fantastic! But if you don't, you get nothing.” With Wrecommended by The Wishing Shelf Awards. finalist or not, can choose to get feedback from the judges, a catchy quote for the back of their next book or reprint, and a review on Amazon and Goodreads. For the entrants that made the finalists, apart from winning medals, logos and certificates, they would get marketing on the web and on The Wishing Shelf Book Awards is recommended by Alliance of Independent Authors, and is recognized by school librarians.

The award consists of has been selected by the Amazonn: Pre-school picture books Category 2: Books for 6 - 8 year olds Category 3: Books for 9 - 12 year olds Category 4: Books for Teenagers Category 5: Books for adults (fiction) Category 6: Books for Adults (non-fiction) The children’s books were read and judged by children in eight UK primary and secondary schools, the adult books by two reading groups, one in London and one in Stockholm. The books were marked according to editing, theme, style, cover and, in the case of many of the children’s books, illustrations. Every book that was awarded over 30/40 becomes a finalist. Inconvenient Memories is a memoir published by Purple Pegasus Publishing in 2019. It is about a young woman's coming of age amid the Tiananmen Square Protests of 1989. Writer’s Digest thinks that “In Wang’s account of China before and after the Tiananmen Square incident, there’s a raw honesty that you don’t always hear in similar stories.”

Inconvenient Memories has been selected by the Amazon Prime Reading program. Prime members have about 90 days, from 17-Mar to 23-Jun, to read it for free.
